Part 1: Classroom Education
Indoor classroom education is geared to educate faculty on the science behind hand-operated fire extinguishers. This first part of the program functions to give employees the background they need to competently handle a fire-extinguisher for the second part of the course and in the event of an actual fire. Our classroom education program includes a certified instructor, literature, a video demonstration, props, a written test, and a certificate of completion.
WHAT THE PROGRAM COVERS
The education portion of our course typically covers:
- Basic fire safety concepts
- Emergency preparedness
- Employer’s procedure in case of fire
- Fire class identification — how different fires burn differently,
and how each is fought - Types of fire extinguishers
- Matching extinguishers to fire class
- Fire protection equipment installed at their place of employment
- Fires situation assessment — making the fight or flight decision
- Home fire safety concepts
- Various suppression agents
- Proper use of a fire extinguisher

The hands-on training portion is designed to put the knowledge gained in the classroom portion of the course into practice so that each faculty member has the experience necessary to competently use a hand-operated fire extinguisher in the event of an emergency.

Our instructors will first demonstrate hazard approach tactics, sweep techniques, and how to extinguish simulated propane-fed fires. Following the demonstration, each attendee will be guided through the complete process by our skillful instructors.
